Cindy Dell called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Chancellor’s Conference Room.

 

The November 14 meeting minutes were accepted as presented.

 

I.          ITEMS – SECOND READING

 

Item 25.b  HTH 201 Foundations of Health and Wellness.  New course

Item 25.c  HTH 435 Health and Wellness Across the Lifespan.  New course.

 

The requested CCN forms and staffing plans for these courses have not been received.  The items will be postponed to the next meeting.

 

II.        ITEMS – FIRST READING

 

Item 27  BS Major in Health and Human Performance Human Performance Option.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 27.b  KIN 462 Evidence Based Assessment and Treatment.  New course.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by John Hoover to approve Items 27 and 27.b on first reading.

 

A CCN form and staffing plan are still needed for KIN 462.

 

- Motion and second were withdrawn.

 

Items 27 and 27.b will also be postponed to the next meeting.

 

Item 29  HHP 381 Adventure Counseling and Leadership.  Change rubric to REC, title to Leadership and Group Dynamics, and change course description.

Item 29.a  HHP 480 Advanced Challenge Skills and Facilitation.  Change rubric to REC, change title to Challenge Course Skills and Facilitation, and change course description.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Tom Dell to approve Items 29 and 29.a on first reading.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Tom Dell, seconded by Carl Castles to waive second reading of Items 29 and 29.a.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 30  BS major in Outdoor Adventure Leadership.  Modification to an existing program.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Ying Wang to approve Item 30 on first reading.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Carl Castles, seconded by John Hoover to waive second reading of Item 30.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 8  BA Major in Music Teaching Licensure Option.  Modification to an existing program.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Ying Wang to approve Item 8 on first reading.

 

Dorothea Cromley, Chair of Music, stated that the music teaching program needed both improvisation and additional keyboard skills, so the two will now be taught together in the keyboarding class.  Technology has been an option, but teachers really need that in the classroom, so it is now a required class.

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by John Hoover to waive second reading of Item 8.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 32  AS Program of Study in Networking Technology.  Modification of an existing program.

Item 32.a  Certificate of AS in Networking Technology.  Modification of an existing program.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by John Hoover to approve Items 32 and 32.a on first reading.

 

It was noted that the credits for the AS Program of Study are being reduced by no longer requiring CAPP 120.  Most students in the program do not need to take CAPP 120.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Tom Dell, seconded by Brian Gurney to waive second reading of Items 32 and 32.a.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 33  ACTG 435 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).  Remove prerequisites.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Ying Wang to approve Item 33 on first reading.

 

It was noted that the COB may have already done this change last year.  It was confirmed that the prerequisites were removed last year, effective Spring 2012.

 

- Motion and second were withdrawn.  Item 33 was voided.

 

Item 34  Certificate of AS Assistant Drafter.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 34.a  AS Program of Study in Drafting and Design.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 34.b  AAS in Drafting and Design Technology.  Modification to an existing program.

 

Item 35  AHMS 162 Beginning Diagnosis Coding.  Change course description.

Item 35.a  AHMS 252 Computerized Medical Billing.  Delete course.

 

These items will be postponed to the next meeting, which will be held at City College in January.
