Cindy Dell called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Health Science South Conference Room of City College.

 

The November 28 meeting minutes were accepted as presented.

 

I.          ITEMS – SECOND READING

 

Item 25.b  HTH 201 Foundations of Health and Wellness.  New course

Item 25.c  HTH 435 Health and Wellness Across the Lifespan.  New course.

 

- Motion by Rich Pierce, seconded by Carl Castles to approve Items 25.b and 25.c on second reading.

 

It was noted that the staffing plans and CCN forms for these courses have been received.

 

- Motion carried.

 

II.        ITEMS – FIRST READING

 

Item 27  BS Major in Health and Human Performance Human Performance Option.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 27.b  KIN 462 Evidence Based Assessment and Treatment.  New course.

 

- Motion by Tom Dell, seconded by Brian Gurney to approve Items 27 and 27.b on first reading.

 

It was cited that HHP 330 has been removed from the core and HHP 362 has been moved from the core to the electives.  The staffing plan and CCN form for KIN 462 was also received.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Rich Pierce, seconded by Brian Gurney to waive second reading of Items 27 and 27.b.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 34  Certificate of AS Assistant Drafter.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 34.a  AS Program of Study in Drafting and Design.  Modification to an existing program.

Item 34.b  AAS in Drafting and Design Technology.  Modification to an existing program.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by John Hoover to approve Items 34 through 34.b on first reading.

 

Tim Urbaniak, Drafting & Design Program, stated that DSGN 204, a course required in these programs, has a fair amount of overlap with DSGN 208, which is not required.  With the agreement of the Drafting & Design Advisory Committee, DSGN 208 is being substituted in the programs for DSGN 204.  DSGN 204 will go on a “hiatus” but will not be deleted.

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by John Hoover to waive second reading of Items 34 through 34.b.

Item 35  AHMS 162 Beginning Diagnosis Coding.  Change course description.

Item 35.a  AHMS 252 Computerized Medical Billing.  Delete course.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Carl Castles to approve Items 35 and 35.a on first reading.

 

It was noted that the course description change for AHMS 162 is only to update the edition of the International Classification of Diseases used in the course.  AHMS 252 is no longer required in the program.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Carl Castles, seconded by Rich Pierce to waive second reading of Items 35 and 35.a.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 36  PARA 291 Special Topics.  New course.

Item 36.a  PARA 294 Seminar/Workshop.  New course.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Rich Pierce to approve Items 36 and 36.a on first reading.

 

Dave Gurchiek, Director of the Paramedic Program, stated that they have decided they would like to offer workshops, seminars, and special topics courses, but these course numbers have not been added to the catalog in the past.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by Brian Gurney, seconded by Rich Pierce to waive second reading of Items 36 and 36.a.

 

- Motion carried.

 

Item 37  PHSX 206 College Physics I Laboratory.  Change prerequisite.

 

- Motion by John Hoover, seconded by Tom Dell to approve Item 37 on first reading.

 

It was cited that the math prerequisite should probably just be M 122 and not both M 121 and 122.  The change was made to the item.

 

- Motion carried.

 

- Motion by John Hoover, seconded by Brian Gurney to waive second reading of Item 37.

 

- Motion carried.
