Don Larsen called the meeting to order at 3:42 p.m. in McMullen 305.

 

The minutes of October 27 were accepted as presented.

Item 21 Manual for the Preparation of Curricular Materials for Consideration by the Academic Senate. Modification of final approval from Chancellor to Provost with the exception of Level I & II items.

 

Motion by Keith Edgerton, seconded by Susan Gilbertz to approve Item 21 on second reading.

IV. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS

 

Motion by Susan Gilbertz, seconded by Scott Murray to amend the agenda to add the discussion item CARE Grant Appeal Process.

A. Tobacco Free Policy Further Development

 

Motion by Keith Edgerton, seconded by Steve Eliason that the Senate Chair draft a letter stating the Senate cannot act on the Tobacco Free Policy without a proposal of formal structure with specific details.

 

Motion carried.

 

B. CARE Grant Appeal Process

 

It was agreed that a Senate appeal process is not necessary. Appeals may be made directly to the Provost.

 

V. OLD BUSINESS

 

A. Bylaws Review

 

Susan Gilbertz asked for a volunteer to help her with the bylaws review and to set a timeline. Mark Hardt agreed to help.
