Gary Ferguson will deliver this year's Keynote Address on April 12, 12:45 PM in Petro Theatre.

Noted nature and ecology writer, Gary Ferguson has published twenty-three books and hundreds of articles. Often grounding his nature writing in personal experience, Ferguson hiked 500 miles through Yellowstone for Walking Down the Wild and spent a summer in wilderness therapy camp for Shouting at the Sky in order to explore the healing effects of nature on troubled youth. In such experiences, he speaks of “breaking the frame so as to see the world through a beginner’s mind.” As a result of such newly realized perspectives, Ferguson has received much critical acclaim including having Hawk’s Rest being named Book of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association and receiving the Sigurd F. Olson Nature Writing Award for The Carry Home.
