Professional Development Training

The Project currently offers two cross-training Modules to educate and inform any staff who work with women who may have a disability and/or experience violence or abuse.  These modules may also be helpful to consumers and survivors themselves for additional information.

The modules come in the format of indexed handbooks with extensive information, tools and resources.  In addition, PowerPoint Presentations containing the EXACT same information can be ordered via e-mail contact thoagland@msubillings.edu.

All products are completely free and may be distributed as needed.  We ask that if you use any portion of the handbooks or PowerPoint slides that you give appropriate credit for the material.

Training materials are designed in a Train-the-Trainer format so that they can be used for independent study or as a way to lead an in-service, conference presentation, or other training.

Additional modules will be developed over the next few months.  Check back for more information.

  • Cross-Training Module 1: Tools for Domestic and Sexual Violence Service Providers includes information on The Diversity of Disabilities, Victimization and Vulnerability Patterns, Providing Services with Dignity and Respect, and Community Resource Contacts.  The Module contains a variety of hands-on tools, explanations of unfamiliar terms and technologies, and cultural issues relevant to women with disabilities.

  • Cross-Training Module 2: Tools for Disability Services Providers includes information on Defining Violence, Signs of Abuse, Forms of Abuse, Victimization and Vulnerability Patterns, Screening, Intervention & Follow-Up, Confidentiality and Reporting Issues.  The Module also contains hands-on tools, community resources, crisis intervention information, and screening assessments.
