Input Process
Sixteen Focus Group and
five Open Forum meetings were held, directly involving over 600
individuals (see appendix for listing of participants).
Groups were encouraged to express their perceptions of
MSU-Billings, either positive or negative, as related to the Master Plan
Goals established by the Steering Committee.
These sessions provided insight into the everyday workings of the
college community and facilities.
Focus Groups
By
conducting small Focus Group meetings, frank and open discussion was
encouraged. At each meeting, participants discussed general
perceptions about MSU-Billings, the goals established by the Steering
Committee were affirmed, and a consensus was
established around the issues most pertinent to the master planning
process.
Open
Forums
A variety of opportunities for the
University community to participate in the master planning process were
facilitated. A series of
Open Forums were conducted in the Student Union Building and also at the
College of Technology where a constant flow of students, faculty and a
variety of other persons had the opportunity to interact with the
planning team. Participants learned about the planning process, the
opportunities it presents to impact the future of the University, and to
help identify and prioritize the issues considered important to address
in the Campus Master Plan.
Community Open Forums were also conducted where anyone in
the Billings area had the opportunity to provide their personal input
into the master planning process.
By conducting Open Forums, the planning team was
able to integrate a wide variety of opinions and ideas from the
University community and to prioritize the issues and challenges facing
the MSU-Billings campus. |
