FINDING ARTICLES Library Homepage: http://www.msubillings.edu/library |
|
1)
Search a periodicals index
Library
Homepage > Find Articles >
Electronic Indexes
The
Library subscribes to over 50 different periodical indexes which index thousands
of newspapers, magazines, and journals. See the handout "Library
Indexes " for a full listing of our electronic indexes.
Choose an index that covers your subject area and try searching.
If
the article you find has the full-text, you're done.
If
not, proceed to step 2.
2) Use
the Full-Text Finder
Library Homepage
> Find Articles
> Full-Text Finder
Once
you have identified an article and the journal it is in, then you can find out
whether we have access to the full text of that article electronically by using
the Full-Text Finder. Type
in the periodical title -- NOT the article title! -- and you will be given links
to the appropriate indexes.
If
an electronic index has your periodical, click on the link to go to that index
and begin searching.
If
not, proceed to step 3.
3)
Search the Library Catalog
Library Homepage >
Find Books >
Library Catalog
Search
the Library Catalog to see if the Library owns the periodical you are
looking for. Type in the periodical title -- NOT the article title! -- and
click on "Periodical Title."
If
the Library has the periodical, the Catalog will tell you where it is in the
building.
If
not, proceed to Step 4.
4) Request the article via
Interlibrary Loan
To
request that an item be sent from another library, fill out an online Interlibrary
Loan Request Form. So that we can obtain the item as quickly as
possible, include as much information as you can about the article, where you
found it, etc. Also be sure to include your email address, as many of the
articles can be sent to you directly via email.
