The focus of our structured 8-week GRE preparation course is to prepare students to take the Graduate Record Examination, a standardized test taken by students who are applying to postgraduate schools in North America. In addition, the course develops the advanced academic language skills necessary to participate effectively in graduate studies as well as a good understanding of U.S. academic culture. The course provides an in-depth understanding of the GRE exam, including quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, verbal reasoning, test-taking strategies, computer use, and stress-management tips. It provides students extensive opportunities to become familiar with Montana State University – Billings, as well as socialize into the university environment, with the goal of easing students’ transition into graduate studies. The course equips students to study effectively through student-centered instruction, test practice, active participation in group discussion, and regular assignments. The GRE preparation course has experienced and TESOL certified instructors, high quality materials, and small class size. The direct instruction is collaborative, competency-based, and mastery-oriented. The course is offered during spring, summer, and fall semesters.
