Exchange Program
Exchanges partnerships are designed to “exchange” students from MSU Billings with students from a partner university in another country. The student pays tuition and fees to their home university and then pays their room, board, books, and other expenses to the partner school they are attending. Academic credits are transferred back to the home university once the student has completed their exchange study. These opportunities are typically for a summer, a semester, or an academic year. Exchange partnerships create opportunities for international students to come to MSUB and for domestic students to study in another country.

Study Abroad Program
Study abroad partnerships provide opportunities to MSUB students to visit and study at a partner school in another country. The student pays a fee set by the host institution at which they will be studying. The room and board charges can vary by program. Some are set up to be billed by MSUB and others the MSUB student will pay their housing, etc. in the host country. These are great opportunities because they are run through MSUB, a student’s financial aid and scholarships still apply to the program.

Faculty Led Trips
MSUB students with all majors are encouraged to go on Faculty Led Trips to other countries for a unique language and culture learning experience with faculty assistance. Students pay a study abroad fee to MSUB to cover the study cost that goes to the host institution. After the trip, students will turn in a thesis about their study to gain credits toward their degrees.

Scholar Exchange Program
Scholar Exchange opportunities are available at MSUB. Faculty and staff are able to go to partner universities to conduct research, guest lecture, or even teach a course. The purpose of these opportunities is to increase the level of international faculty communication and cooperation. It also provides faculty the opportunity to experience other cultures in a classroom setting that they are able to bring back to the MSUB classroom, in turn diversifying MSUB’s campus.
