Montana State University Billings is the third largest University in Montana and is located in Montana’s largest city. The Senior campus, College of Technology and Downtown campus together are home to approximately 5,000 students. The University has six colleges, which offer a wide variety of degree programs to its students. DESCRIPTION: The Fire Science Technology Instructor/Program Director will coordinate the planning, organization, review, and continued development of the MSU Billings College of Technology Fire Science Associate of Science program of study. Responsibilities include teaching up to 22.5 credit hours per academic year in the Fire Science program; advising students enrolled in the program; participation in curriculum and course development, including the development and delivery of online classes and teaching at non-traditional times; participation in MSU Billings and College of Technology committee assignments and activities. Some applied scholarship and community service required.
The successful candidate will teach Fire Science courses and coordinate the Fire Science program at the College of Technology. The Instructor/Program Director will work to expand portions of the current Fire Science curriculum to include alternate delivery modalities including on-line and accelerated hybrid style courses. The Instructor/Program Director will work with the College’s Outreach Center of Excellence and local and regional fire departments to develop additional professional credit and non-credit continuing education training workshops (i.e. Haz Mat, Rapid Intervention Team, “The JAWS of Life,” etc). The Instructor/Program Director will work to explore and establish new certificate and fire-related degree opportunities.
The successful applicants for employment will be expected to use their skills to assist in recruiting, retaining and contributing to the success of our students as well as participating in ongoing efforts to improve the quality of learning-centered environment.
This position will also be responsible for establishing industry related partnerships, external support for the Fire Science program and the University, such as grant funding, equipment donations, grant writing, and other fund raising activities.
This position will support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) for this program by allowing for stability, responsiveness, and further expansion of the program of study. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Educational background in instructional methodology is required or requires course enrollment after employment.
· Ability to effectively collect and aggregate data for analysis.
