Montana State University-Billings is the third largest University in Montana and is located in Montana’s largest city. The Senior campus, College of Technology and Downtown campus together are home to approximately 5,000 students. The University has six colleges, which offer a wide variety of degree programs to its students. Montana State University-Billings employs approximately 500 employees, who together work hard to create an outstanding University.
DESCRIPTION: Duties will include teaching Earth Science/Geography courses to geology minors and students in Biological, Physical and Environmental Sciences. Establishment of a discipline-related research program involving undergraduates is expected. Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is helpful. A commitment to science education for majors, non-majors, and future teachers of science is also helpful.
In addition, this position will include student advising, recruiting, departmental and campus committee participation, and development/delivery of online courses. Establishment of a research program in Geology/Earth Science involving undergraduates is expected. The successful candidate is expected to share the University commitment to outcomes assessment and continuous quality improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Ph.D. in Geology or an Earth Science (ABD considered).
Ø Desire evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level.
Ø Evidence of potential for productive research involving undergraduates.
Ø Excellent communication skills.
Ø High academic standards and a demonstrated commitment to academic rigor.
