Dorothy Hass
Fransen '34 and her husband, Edwin, recently celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary with a dinner in Westby, Mont. Dorothy and Edwin
farmed on the family homestead between Westby and Plentywood until
their retirement in 2000. They have three children, 10
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ethel Fleming '40 and her husband, Clyde, are charter members of the Pompeys
Pillar Historical Association. Shovels in hand, they participated
in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new interpretive center in
April 2004.

Benjamin '66 has been named regional director of the Bureau of Indian
Affairs Great Plains office in Aberdeen, S.D. Benjamin is a
native of Browning, Mont and a Blackfeet Tribe member. He has
been deputy regional director of the Rocky Mountain office since 1996.
Amalie Sieler '69 and her husband, Ben, recently celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary. They ranched west of Plevna before moving to
Billings in 1954. Ben owned Ben's Draperies in Billings and Amalie taught German at Senior High for 31 years before
retiring in 2000.
Clint Van Atta '72 was honored as the Montana Credit Union Professional of the
Year for 2004. Clint is president of the Billings Federal Credit
Union. He serves on the Credit Union National Association's
Cooperative Alliances Committee and as a trustee for the National
Credit Union Legislative Action Committee.
Jay Strever '78 has been named regional director of human resources for the
Billings Gazette, the Helena Independent Record, the Montana
Standard in Butte and the Casper Star Tribune. He will direct
employee relations, training, recruitment and policy
administration for the four Lee newspapers. Prior to joining the
Gazette in 2002, Jay was controller for Beall Trailers of
Montana. He is also owner of Jaymie Duck Enterprises, a computer
consulting business.
Brian Pogue '80 has been named director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The
Agency provides services to the nation's 562 federally recognized
tribes. Pogue began his career with the BIA at the Billings area
office and is now located in Oklahoma where he is an enrolled
member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Patrick Hould '82 has been appointed to the National Association of Elementary
School Principals board of directors as a middle school
representative. Pat began his career in education as a music
teacher in Thompson Falls, Mont. and for the past eleven years has
been principal of Lewistown Junior High. He has been a member of
NAESP for the past eleven years and recently completed his fourth
year as a state officer of the Montana Elementary and Middle
School Principals Association.
Clayton Jones '87, a Billings, Mont. investment representative for Edward Jones,
was one of 50 representatives honored at a business management
forum in St. Louis, Mo.
Mark Holle '87 of Billings, Mont. has joined Engineering, Inc. as
controller. Holle is a CPA with more than 15 years of public
accounting experience in tax preparation and auditing. As
controller he will be responsible for the firm's financial
management systems and financial reporting.
Karen Pearson '88 owns both Alpine Counseling Associates and Inner Sanctum in
Billings, Mont. and plans to merge the two businesses into a
service that will provide ""a holistic experience for each person
as their inner beauty unfolds."" Karen has been providing
personal counseling for nearly 10 years and last year expanded her
business with the opening of Inner Sanctum where she retails all
natural skin care products and provides a yoga/stretching program
and massage.
Marsha Schell '88 is a member of the 100 Percent Club. She is a realtor with
RE/MAX in Billings, Mont. and
was recently recognized for her level of production during 2003.
Robert Gilpen '89 had a showing of his paintings at the Blackfish Gallery in
Portland, Ore. in January 2003, followed by a showing at the Mark
Woolley Gallery, also in Portland, in December 2003 and January
2004.
Ericka
(Swanson) Herbers '90 graduated June 2004 from the University of Phoenix with a M.A.
in school counseling. Previously an elementary teacher, she will
begin her new career as a school counselor in fall 2004 at
Eaglecrest High School in the Cherry Creek School District in
Colorado, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
Sue Tombrink '90 is a member of the 100 Percent Club. She is a realtor with
RE/MAX of Billings, Mont. and
was recognized for her level of production during 2003.
Beverly Ross '91 a premier agent with Prudential's Pioneer Agency in Billings,
Mont. qualified for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table,
2004. Membership is based on excellence in customer sales and
service. Bev is also a trustee of the Montana State
University-Billings Foundation.
Sara Rosin '92 has been promoted to escrow officer at American Title & Escrow
in Billings, Mont. She joined the company in 1994 and has been
marketing director for the last eight years.
Matthew Meismer '93 has joined the engineering firm of Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson in
Billings, Mont. as a CADD technician. Matthew has 20 years
drafting and surveying experience and will provide drafting and
design support for all civil projects.
Dianna
Nuernberger '94 has been promoted to promotions coordinator at Intermountain
Mortgage Co. in Billings, Mont. She is responsible for event
planning, sponsorship efforts, incentive programs and is the
contact for promotional and merchandising efforts.
Michael L.
Smith '95 was recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Montana Sheriff's
and Peace Officer's Association. He developed a computer data
system that matches stolen property reports to pawn shop receipts
and made it available, free of charge, to Billings
police detectives through an internet connection. His program
helped police officers gather evidence in more than 70 cases of
burglaries, thefts and other property crimes.
Julie Sullivan '95 has joined Prudential Financial's Pioneer Agency in Billings,
Mont. as a financial services associate. Julie has attained her
Life and Health and NASD Series 7 registration.
Kimberly Dare '97 of the accounting firm, Galusha Higgins and Galusha in
Billings, Mont. recently passed the Certified Fraud Exam. She has
the expertise to resolve allegations of fraud, gather evidence,
write reports and testify to findings as well as assist in the
prevention and detection of fraud.
Stephanie Long '98 is the new superintendent of Canyon Creek School District west
of Billings. She was previously a middle school teacher for the
Lockwood School District and had also taught at Sandstone
Elementary in Billings
and in Stockton, Calif. Stephanie and her husband, Dave, have two
children.
Michelle Qualls '98 was elected president of the MSU Billings 5904 Toastmasters
for the 2003-2004 term. Michelle works for St. Vincent Healthcare.
Jerry Simonson '98 has joined Western Security Bank in Billings, Mont. as a
commercial loan officer. He has over five years of lending
experience.
Daniel Lewis '99 was presented with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the
University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences
during commencement ceremonies May 8 at the Chester Fritz
Auditorium on the UND campus in Grand Forks. He has gone on for
residency training in emergency medicine at Hennepin County
Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn.
Tony Stark '99 has joined the staff of the Yellowstone County Council on
Aging as the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteer
coordinator.
Christopher
Hirt '00 received his doctor of dental medicine at Oregon Health
University in Portland. He plans to return to Billings to
practice dentistry.
Shaun McKinley '00 is the coordinator of marketing for the Partnership for
Families, Children and Adults, a social service agency operating
27 different programs in 17 counties throughout Tennessee, Alabama
and Georgia. Shaun now lives in Cleveland,
Tenn.
Jeremiah Rouane '00 has been promoted to assistant vice president of commercial
real estate at First Interstate Bank in Billings, Mont. He was
previously a construction loan officer and began his career at
First Interstate as a credit analyst and teller. Rouane is a
certified public accountant and a graduate of both MSU Billings
and Northwest College.
Gina Wilson '01 was recently certified as a family support specialist by the
State of Montana. Gina is an employee of STEP Inc. in Billings
and will provide support to families with children with
disabilities.
Jeremy Morgret '02 has been promoted to commercial real estate loan officer at
First Interstate Bank in Billings, Mont. Jeremy completed the
management training program and was most recently a credit analyst
for the downtown branch.

Riesinger '02 has joined New York Life Insurance in Billings, Mont.
as an agent. She participated in New York Life's agent training
program.
Russell Stevens '02 of MH Computers in Billings, Mont. is a certified WatchGuard
Firebox technician and is able to install, service and provide
training on WatchGuard firewall systems.
Cristine Green '03 an accountant with Yellowstone Trust Administration Inc. in
Billings, Mont. has earned her CPA designation. Cristine provides
charitable trust accounting and client services and is one of
three CPA's on the YTA staff.
Travis Rykowski '03 recently joined CTA Architects Engineers in Billings, Mont. as a structural steel designer.

assistant. She interned at Scottrade while at MSU Billings and
was hired full-time following her graduation.
