Marissa is a
sophomore at Laurel High School and enjoys creative
writing but not journalism, as she discovered in a
recent job shadow. Marissa wanted to participate in
the Equity Outreach Project to learn more about
attending college and the world of work.
Jessica Bowman is a
full-time student majoring in Elementary Education
and Special Education. She has over ten years of
experience working in human services and currently
works as a Habilitation Technician in a mental
health setting. Jessica enjoys being a mentor
because,
it is an opportunity to connect with
others with disabilities. It encourages girls to
seek out options for post secondary schooling. It
helps build their self esteem and teaches them to
take control of their own lives and speak up for
them selves. |
