Family
Friend Network
In an effort to better
understand why some young women with disabilities continue on to
secondary education and/or gainful employment after high school
and why some do not, we will investigate the Family Friend
Network. The Family Friend Network is the acknowledgement that
most people get their first job experiences through family or
family friends. We expect that this holds true for young women
with disabilities as well and will hold a series of focus groups
to research this topic.
Focus groups and interviews with the families
of successful young women with disabilities went very well. You
are invited to read the full report of the
Family Friend Network
Focus Groups.
We continue our investigation by interviewing
the successful young women with disabilities themselves. If you
would like to be interviewed or know of someone who would be a
candidate for participation please contact:
