Do you offer a certificate program?
No, we do not.

Do I need to be an EMT in order to apply to the paramedic program?
No, you need to have a current NREMT-Basic card prior to starting the paramedic core classes. However, you do not need a current NREMT-Basic card to start the pre-requisite classes.

What immunizations and documentation are required for entrance into the paramedic program?
You need to have a current NREMT-Basic card and CPR Health Care Provider card prior to starting the paramedic core classes. You also need to have documentation of immunity against mumps, measles, rubella (MMR), hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, and proof that a tuberculosis skin test has been done within the last calendar year.

Do I need to have 6 months of field experience to apply to the paramedic program?
No, you do not need 6 months of field experience to apply to the paramedic program. Some programs require this, but it relates only to the length of time as an EMT, not real patient interaction  (5 cardiac arrests, 15 critical traumas, etc.). What's important is you're clinical expertise after graduation, not you're field experience as a basic provider when entering the program. The proof of our program is our graduates and their ability to be a team leader and competent advanced field practitioner after they have gone through our paramedic program. Furthermore, we have an outstanding pass rate on the national registry exam.

Do you offer housing?
Yes, we are a full service university with residence halls, book stores, cafeterias, advising centers, tutors, sporting activities, etc.

Who do I contact if I have any questions in general about the paramedic program?
Kirtlye Schuman, paramedic program academic advisor is more than happy to answer any of your questions. She can be reached at (406) 247-3020 or kschuman@msubillings.edu
