| Tools/Special Requirements |
Students
must already hold a current National Registry
Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) card.
Health care core: all
students who wish to pursue AAS degrees
in Nursing, Medical Assisting, Paramedic,
or Radiologic Technology must complete
the pre-health
care core classes prior to
admission to a specific academic program.
Students must have a minimum grade point
average (GPA) of 2.50 and a grade of C
or better in the health care core before
they can proceed into the clinical portion
of the Paramedic program. |

Students earn an Associate
of Applied Science degree in Paramedic upon
successful completion of this program. This
program is regionally accredited through
the Commission on Accreditation for Allied
Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and CoAEMSP. |

- Normal human anatomy and physiology
- Anatomy of the respiratory system,
its relationship to the other systems
of the body, the pathophysiology of diseases
of the respiratory system,
and treatment modalities of pulmonary
disease
- Pathophysiology and management of cardiovascular
disease and related emergencies
- Pathophysiology and the management of trauma
- Normal and abnormal obstetrical problems
- Pharmacology and electrocardiology
- Recognize, assess and appropriately
manage emergencies of acutely
ill or injured patients prior to arrival
at a hospital
- Maintain documentation of each patient care situation
- Direct and coordinate the rescue, care and transportation of
patients
- Training will include classroom
instruction, skills laboratory and hospital
clinical practice and supervised
field internships
- Prepares the paramedic student for the national registry paramedic exam

- The abillity to communicate information and
ideas in writing so others will understand

conclusions or approaches to problems
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment
and determining when and what kind of maintenance
is needed.
