Tools/Special Requirements
Students in the Diesel program are required to buy their own tools to use in the laboratory setting. Tool Lists and a list of vendors that have previously worked with our students are available online or from the New Student Services Office.

Degree & Certificate Options
Associate of Applied Science degrees are awarded to students who successfully pass the required courses. Students choosing to earn a Certificate of Applied Science replace required math credits with MATH 085 and English credits with ENGL 102.

 
What you will learn
  • Diesel Engine: Covers the theory, design, operation, diagnosis, repair and service of diesel engines used in trucks, agricultural, marine and stationary applications
  • Overhaul: Machining and dyno-testing are utilized to give students practical experience
  • Power Train, Chassis and Maintenance: Includes the design, operation, diagnosis, and service procedures for power train and chassis components used in heavy-duty equipment, trucks and agricultural applications
  • Hydraulics and Preventative Maintenance: Diagnostic analysis and overhaul of pumps, valves, and cylinders is covered in both the lab and classroom settings
  • ElectricalSystems: Covers electrical systems (charging, starting, wiring and schematic systems) on automotive, mid-range, heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment
  • Fuel Injection Systems: Training on manual and electronic fuel injection systems
  • Develop and maintain occupational relationships
  • Effectively communicate with customers and peers
  • Proficient in mathematical skills necessary for technical fields
