Commencement Frequently Asked Questions

Unfortunately, due to the global health emergency imposed by COVID-19, we are postponing our Commencement celebration until December 19, 2020.

The 2020 Commencement will be held on December 19, 2020 on campus at MSU Billings in the Alterowitz Gym.

Graduating students from Summer 2019, Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020 are invited to participate in Commencement 2020.

We anticipate that in order to accommodate the large number of graduates and guests, multiple ceremonies will be necessary. More details will be available by early fall.

MSU Billings will reach out to you this fall to learn of your plans to participate.

No. As long as you have already applied to graduate, we will post your degree to your official academic record the term it was earned (when you finished courses and completed degree requirements).

Fall 2019 degrees are posted to your official transcript. You can order transcripts online at My Student Center.

Diplomas will be mailed when they arrive.  We anticipate receiving Fall 2019 diplomas by mid-May.

After grades are due and finalized by the Registrar’s Office (anticipated May 15, 2020), we will begin posting degrees. This is not an automated process, and thus takes six to eight weeks to finish.

If you have a priority need (licensure, pending job offer, etc.) and need your degree posted as soon as possible, please email registrar@msubillings.edu with your name, degree, and contact information.

You can order official transcripts at My Student Center or through your myInfo secure area. Please note “hold for degree” if your transcript request requires your degree to be posted.

Diplomas will be mailed to graduates when they arrive.  We anticipate receiving spring 2020 diplomas by early September.
