Campus Corps is an AmeriCorps program through which 40,000 students each year tackle community problems. AmeriCorps is a national service program, and is often referred to as the “domestic Peace Corps.” The goal of Campus Corps is to make connections between college and university campuses and the community, and to address needs through student involvement and volunteering.
Campus Corps members serve 2 school years, working a total of 900 hours at an hourly wage. That averages to 15/hours week! If you successfully complete your term, you will also receive a $2,362.50 Education Award (Team Leaders receive a $4,725 award) to be applied to your current education, future education (i.e. graduate school), or to pay down student loans. Members are currently serving at the Discover Zone after-school program, St. John Lutheran Ministries (a local nursing home), Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Habitat for Humanity. If you are looking for a fun job, a great way to make community connections and gain work experience, are interested in helping people in need, and want to help get other college students involved in volunteering, MSU Billings has 3 open positions for students, and one Team Leader position, all of which start in September 2008. We are now accepting applications!
