Mission Statement

The mission of MSU Billings Extended Campus and MSU Billings Downtown as a component of Extended Campus is to provide continuing education, conferences, professional development activities, workforce training and development, community enrichment, and other extended accesses of learning and discovery to public.  These programs and activities are designed and carried out in partnership with various units of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Administrative Services, and community partners.

As a regional state university and one of the campuses of the land grant institution for the State of Montana, Montana State University Billings is committed to extending the reach and impact of its students, faculty, and staff to provide needed educational services and to help address vital community needs of the region.  MSUB Extended Campus, through outreach centers in Downtown Billings, South Billings, and through City College on the West End, provides greater access to academic programs, creates new partnerships with organizations external to the University, and strengthens and expands existing partnerships with regional and community organizations.  Educational programs offered through MSUB Extended Campus are tailored to the economic, social, and cultural needs of the University’s constituents and may occur on-campus, throughout the Yellowstone Region, Montana, the nation, and the world.

MSUB Extended Campus activities are organized into several program areas.  Based upon your individual educational needs and objectives, one or all of these programs may be creatively employed to fulfill them.

Lifelong Learning

Our Lifelong Learning programs focus on the development and delivery of conferences, workshops, seminars, and other special educational programs.  Offerings can include programs for degree credit, extension credit, or not-for-credit, depending upon the needs of the recipients.  Groups served include youth through our “Kids on Campus” programs, adults, and seniors.

Training and Development

The MSU Billings Outreach Program specializes in the development and delivery of credit and non-credit courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, special events, and other educational outreach services intended to serve your professional development and lifelong learning needs.  Program offerings include short term work force development and educational activities for unemployed and underemployed individuals provided at MSUB Garfield Community Resource Center, 3212 1st Avenue South.
