Master of Education
Interdisciplinary Studies Option:  Teacher Licensure Program of Study

The Teacher Licensure Program of Study is designed for persons who have baccalaureate degrees from accredited institutions in fields other than education who wish to become secondary, K-12, and elementary education teachers.  This M.Ed. option provides an intensive program combining basic teacher licensure and an advanced degree in education.

Students wishing to pursue and complete this degree program must first be admitted to candidacy in the Teacher Education Program.  This should be completed at the time of initial registration for classes (Forms for Admission to Teacher Education are available from the Office of Licensure, Standards and Clinical Practice).  After the completion of not more than 12 credit hours, candidates for the M.Ed. degree should have completed all admission requirements for master’s degree candidacy as described on page 86 of the Graduate Catalog.  (Candidates not fulfilling these requirements may be eligible to continue as post baccalaureate teacher licensure program candidates.)

The courses EDCI 500 and EDF 530 should be included in the first 12 credit hours of the candidate’s program of study.
