The classical Japanese stone garden, courtesy of students in the spring 2007 Philosophies of China, Tibet, and Japan class, is located to the south of the College of Education building.  It may be used in two ways for contemplation: by sitting and observing; and by mindfully weeding.  Full awareness is the end; sitting and weeding are two means.

Some students in Philosophies of life, spring 2007, painted this labyrinth on the roof of LA 205.  Just getting there is akin to a spiritual journey.  When you arrive, approach it calmly and with attention.  Begin walking between the red lines at the south opening.  Proceed mindfully, simply, and slowly to the center and back out again in the same attitude.
