Came to Montana in 1968. Earned a B.A. and M.A. in political science from the University of Montana.
Worked for the State of Montana for twelve years, serving as chief of staff to Governor Ted Schwinden and holding two other cabinet-level positions. Later served in the Montana Legislature: Four years in the House of Representatives from Kalispell and fourteen years from Missoula (another six years in the House and eight in the Montana Senate).
Has been in involved in seeking to shape and administer public policy at the national, state and local levels since 1974.
Began instructing at Montana State University Billings in 2013. Courses include Introduction to American Government; Elections and Political Parties; United States Congress.
Instructed previously at the University of Montana, Montana State University and Carroll College.
