STUDENT INFORMATION:
Welcome to the 28th annual Teacher Recruitment Interviews in the
Ballroom/Student Union Building!
Hosted by Career Services & the College of Education, this is
an opportunity to interview for Fall 2008 teaching & counseling
jobs with regional and state school districts.
After April 15,
click here for a list of districts and openings.
Changes may occur after that date.
We encourage you to follow these suggestions to enhance your employment
success.
Securing Interviews
9:00-Noon + 1:00-4:30
Register at the door. There is no fee
to participate. Current students may use
CareerLink to post
résumé
and cover letter in advance.
Recruiters are in the Ballroom of the Student Union Building; a
sign identifies each district, and you will move from table to table
as you meet recruiters. (Educators will be at lunch from
noon-1:00.)
Selling Yourself
This is important! As you look around, you will
see that many other candidates are here for the same reason you
are--to get a job.
No one is assured of an interview, so you must be professional
and assertive, approaching each school district hiring official
with enthusiasm. You will have 5-10 minutes to "sell yourself"
and to secure an interview later in the day.
- Meet recruiters confidently--look them in the eye and offer
a firm handshake.
- Present your résumé. Be sure to
include foreign language skills!
- Be prepared to answer questions; go to Interview
Questions for ideas.
- Provide them with reasons to invite you to interview.
- Thank them for their time, and end with a handshake.
- You will not need a copy of your credential file for this interview.
- If employers request them, copies of credential files will
be provided after the interviews.
Other Services
Résumé critiquing is available
at the Career Services table. Leave a copy of your résumé
and a stamped, self-addressed envelope at the registration table;
a professional will review your résumé and mail it
back to you.
Credential file packets for MSU Billings
students and alumni (both new and updated files) will be available there.
You may also complete them electronically. Click
here for more info.
Food service is available in the SUB.
Plan to park in the parking garage, south of the SUB, just off Poly
Drive. You do not need a permit to park there.
Career Services is closed the day of the event but will be open
the next business day. We will be glad to help you check which letters
of recommendation have arrived or answer other questions.
