Your first teaching job is just around the corner!

Knowing what hiring officials expect can alleviate some of the anxiety in applying for your first professional teaching position. Being aware of what is important to school administrators gives you a competitive edge!

Conducted by College of Education professors Dr. Judy McEnany and Dr. Susan Barfield and Patricia Reuss, director of Career Services, this is the third MSU-Billings survey to investigate hiring preferences among Montana K-12 hiring officials.

Articles about "An Investigation of Hiring Preferences & Practices of Montana School Superintendents and Personnel Officers" (1989) and "A Two-Part Investigation of Criteria for Hiring First-Time Teachers" (1995) were published by the American Association for Employment in Education in its Job Search Handbook for Educators.
