Programs in Rehabilitation Counseling

Rehabilitation is the restoration to fullest physical, mental, social, vocational, and economic functioning following a disability. The role of the rehabilitation counselor involves aiding consumers with physical and psychiatric disabilities through job development and placement, case management, career and lifestyle counseling, and personal and family adjustment counseling. Consumers become self-supporting and independent citizens. The Rehabilitation Counseling degrees are designed to prepare qualified professionals for challenging careers in both the public and private sectors. The department offers high-quality edu­cation emphasizing individual, group and family counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation, inde­pendent living, career development, research and professional ethics.
