Chart of Accounts - FOAP

The Chart of Accounts (COA) is a structure of codes used for the classification, budgeting, recording and reporting of financial transactions.

The chart code structure is classified by the following elements, which are commonly abbreviated by the term "FOAP":

Fund

Identifies the funding source

Organization

Also referred to as an Org, and identifies a unit of budgetary responsibility and/or department within the University.

Account

A code representing revenue, expenditure, asset, liability, equity and transfers.

Program

Designates NACUBO functional classifications for expenditures such as instruction, research, public services, institutional support.
