Week in Review

The Yellowjackets, fresh off a grueling preseason camp, travel to Colorado for a pair of games to open the season.  Returning all eleven starters off last season's roster, the Jackets have added five additional new talents to the squad.  Healthy and ready to go, the Jackets look to post its first winning season in the program's history after finishing 5-11-2 in 2006.

The Yellowjackets were recently picked to finish fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in a poll of league coaches.  The Jackets were preceded by powerhouses Seattle University, Seattle Pacific, and Western Washington.  The Yellowjackets were ranked ahead of first year program Saint Martin's University.  Entering their first season in the Far West Region the Jackets will play tough competition, but with a mix of veterans, youth, and the guidance of third year head coach Dan McNally, the Jackets are undoubtedly ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited about the season,” said McNally.  “For the first time since I’ve been the coach here, I’m very optimistic about the season.  We’ve done all the work off the field.  Our grades are fantastic, the team spirit is good, the team discipline is good, and we’re organized as a group.  Now is the time to start winning on the field.  If everything goes well, I think we’re in a position to do it.

Upcoming Opponents

""Colorado Christian (webpage) - The Cougars have seen their share of struggles as the team failed to win a single game during the 2006 season finishing 0-16-2.  The Jackets and Cougars met early in the season last year grinding to a 1-1 double overtime tie.  The Cougars are picked to finish last in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference out of a field of eight teams.  Scoring just two goals for the entire season, the Cougars are surely looking to change their fortune.  The team returns both players that scored goals for the Cougars.

All-time vs. MSUB
MSUB wins: 4
Colorado Christian wins: 1
Ties: 1

Mavericks logoMesa State (webpage) - The Mavericks will play its inaugural season of men's soccer.  Fielding a team of primarily freshman, it is anyone's guess how the young team will perform.  Led by head coach Josh Pittman, the Mavs will look to mark their place in the RMAC.  Picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll, ahead of Colorado Christian, Mesa State will need to prove themselves to move up in the strong soccer conference.

All-time vs. MSUB
MSUB wins: 0
Mesa State wins: 0
Ties: 0

During his time at Embry-Riddle, he led the Eagles to the 1998 FSC Tournament Championship and the 1999 FSC Regular Season Championship.  At Embry-Riddle, McNally was named All-Conference, All-Region and Honorable Mention All-America. He was selected as team MVP his freshman and sophomore years and was a team captain as a senior.

McNally holds NSCAA National and Advanced National coaching licenses, passing both courses with distinction.
