Yellowjacket Women’s Basketball Adds Billings Central/MSU Standout
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State University Billings women’s basketball coach Kevin Woodin announced Wednesday that former Billings Central High School and Montana State University standout Jenny Heringer will play for the Yellowjackets this season.
“I’m very excited to have Jenny Heringer join our women’s basketball team for the upcoming season,” Woodin said. “I have known Jenny and her family for years and she has tremendous character and talent. She was a superb player at both Billings Central and MSU. I look forward to working with her and I believe she will have an immediate and positive impact on our team.”
Heringer was a three-time all-state selection and led her team to three state basketball appearances at Billings Central. During her senior year, she averaged 21.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists, while earning Montana Gatorade Player of the Year honors. She also was the Most Valuable Player of the 2004 state high school basketball tournament and was a Street & Smith Magazine Honorable Mention All-America selection. In addition, she was the 2005 Billings Midland Roundtable Athlete of the Year.
In her three-year playing career at Montana State, Heringer played in 87 games and averaged nearly nine points and five rebounds per game. She shot over 80 percent from the free throw line. Heringer earned second team Big Sky All-Conference honors in 2007-08. In addition, she earned numerous conference Player of the Week honors and was a multiple selection on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team.
