Stanhope Tabbed GNAC Player of the Week
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings junior women’s golfer, Kalli Stanhope, has been honored by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference as Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Stanhope won medalist honors at the inaugural MSUB Yellowjacket Fall Invitational last week at Briarwood Golf Course in Billings.
Stanhope, a native of Glendive, Mont., led wire-to-wire with a 155, 36-hole score. She fired rounds of 78 and 77 as the only player in the 36-player field to shoot both rounds in the 70s. This is the first GNAC Women’s Golfer of the Week honor as the conference added women’s golf this year. Last season, the Yellowjackets competed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference where they won the conference tournament and earned their second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament.
This was Stanhope’s first career collegiate win. As a freshman, she competed in the NCAA Championships in Findlay, Ohio. Stanhope is the only Yellowjacket women’s golfer in school history to compete in the NCAA Championships.
The Yellowjacket women’s golf team now heads to Grand Junction, Colo., for the Mesa State Invitational, Sept. 19-21.
