First Round Men's Results
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings men’s golf team currently sits third after the first round of the inaugural MSUB Fall Yellowjacket Invitational. Rocky Mountain College lead the 36-hole event with a 307 score, followed by Carroll College with a 308 on the par 72, 7,004-yard Briarwood Golf Course. The Jackets are 10 strokes off the lead at a 317.
“We hit the ball very well on some holes and got into some trouble on some others,” MSUB head men’s golf coach Shawn O’Brien said. “We are a very young team. We had some great shots and had some holes in which we struggled. Time and experience will be a great asset to us as the year goes on. I expect us to come out and play better tomorrow.”
University of Great Falls sits fourth with a 336 score, followed by Rocky’s second team (357) and Miles Community College is sixth with a 364 score.
Rocky’s Connor Rakowski and Carroll’s Ben McIsaac lead the 32-player field after each fired a two-over 74. MSUB senior Travis Gates and freshman Jake Letman are tied for fifth each with a 78.
Yellowjacket freshman Mac Keating is tied for 11th with an 80, while junior Kyle Armstrong sits 15th after firing an 81. Freshman Brad Harrelson is 18th after carding an 84. Playing as an individual, MSUB freshman Chris Rasmussen fired a 93 and is tied for 28th.
The final round is scheduled for a 7:20 start tomorrow morning.
The women’s field did not finish the first round Tuesday as play was suspended due to darkness. There are two groups who did not finish. Those groups will complete the first round first thing tomorrow morning and then begin the second round.
