Yellowjackets Sign Versatile Runner for 2010-11
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings cross country and track and field head coach, Dave Coppock, has announced the signing of Chase Robinson. Robinson is slated to begin running for the Yellowjacket cross country and track and field teams during the 2010-11 school year.
“Chase is one of the most experienced high school runners we've ever recruited,” Coppock said. “He's competitive at a wide range of distances from the 800 meters to the five and six mile cross country distances. He'll make an immediate impact on our distance program and has a great college running future ahead of him.”
A native of Colstrip, MT, Robinson was a three sport athlete in high school. He lettered all four years in track, twice in cross country and earned a letter as part of the baseball team.
As part of the track team, Robinson helped lead the team to three-straight district championships from 2007 through 2009. His team took the divisional championship as well during the 2008 season.
During his high school career Robinson was named as the team MVP in both cross country and track during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, respectively. He also earned the school’s most outstanding distance runner award in 2010.
Robinson joins the cross country and track and field teams as they both enjoyed one of their most successful seasons in school history. The cross country team will host a pair of meets again this season at Riverfront Park on Saturday, Sept. 4, against Rocky Mountain College and again on Saturday, Oct. 16, for the Yellowjacket Invitational.
