Yellowjacket Baseball Adds Victor “Austin” Rue
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head baseball coach, Rob Bishop, announced the addition of Victor “Austin” Rue for the 2010-11 season.
“Austin is a great student and a terrific person,” Bishop said. “He has very good speed and is a solid defender at any infield spot. Austin also brings the kind of work ethic that will fit in very well with how I see Yellowjacket baseball progressing on and off the field."
Rue, a native of Clancy, Mont., attended Jefferson High School and played legion baseball for the Helena Senators and the Helena Reps. Rue played last year at Miles Community college for Bishop where he played third base. Rue batted .305 for the Pioneers with a .428 on base percentage, 22 stolen bases and 39 runs scored. Rue helped lead the Pioneers to a 35-13 record and a conference and regional championship.
As a senior for the Senators, he hit .397 with 81 hits and had a slugging percentage of .480. He was 23 of 28 in stolen bases and reached base .490 percent of the time. Rue helped lead the Senators to a 42-17 record and the 2009 AA Missoula Championship in the Mavericks Memorial Day Tournament.
