BRIEFLY
The MSUB women’s soccer team returns home for its final four regular season games of the year.  The Yellowjackets are looking to snap a three-game skid and four of the last six.  MSUB goes for the sweep this week versus Saint Martin’s at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Western Oregon at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

SCOUTING MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
The Yellowjackets are led by freshman Jaucelyn Richter who leads the team and is tied for second in the conference with nine goals and 24 points.  Fellow freshman Jennifer Larsen has eight goals (good for fourth in the league) for 17 points (tied for fourth).  She leads the team and the league with 64 shots and 37 on goal.  Larsen is second on the team in shots with 48 and second in shots on goal with 27.  Senior Chelsea Libby and Richter lead the team with six assists each and both are tied for third in the league in assists.  Kari Foreman is third in goals with six and leads the team and is second in the league with four game-winning goals.  Richter has two game-winners.  Samantha Sandau and Carly Valentine each have two goals on the year, while Andrea Bataluke, Kelly Ross and Kristen Kastelic each have a goal.

Between the posts, the Yellowjacks are led by junior Jordan Fenwick who has an 8-7-1 record with two shutouts and 64 saves.  Fenwick has played and started all 16 games, logging 1498:29 minutes and carries a 1.74 goals against average which is good for fifth in the league.  She is fourth in the league in saves.

As a team, the Yellowjackets have scored 30 goals and have 28 assists on the year for 88 points.  They have 234 shots for a .128 shot percentage.  MSUB has 126 shots on goal for a .538 clip. Conversely, the opponents have scored 29 goals with 21 assists for 79 points.  They have 181 shots (.160) and 96 on goal for a .530 clip.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK
The Yellowjackets dropped two tough road games this past week at No. 4 Seattle Pacific and at Western Washington.  The Yellowjackets hung tough with the fourth-ranked Falcons for a half, holding a 6-5 lead in shots and had a number of good looks at goal, but couldn’t convert.  SPU scored a goal midway through the half, but the Yellowjackets held their ground for the rest of the half and a 1-0 deficit at intermission.  The Falcons scored three goals in the second half as GNAC Player of the Week and the conference’s leading scorer, Jocelyn Charette, tallied a hat trick.  MSUB didn’t have much time as it turned right around and played at Western Washington which also is a very tough venue.  WWU scored three first half goals and won the game by that margin.  Despite the two losses, the Yellowjackets kept their heads up and look for better results this week.

SCOUTING SAINT MARTIN’S
The Saints enter the week with a 9-7 record overall and a 5-4 mark in league play.  SMU currently is on two game winning streak and four of six.  The Saints are led by Jill Webb who leads the team with nine goals and 21 points.  She also is tied for the team lead with three assists.  Webb leads the team with 63 shots and 39 shots on goal and a .619 average.  Kayci Donatelli is second in goals with four and also has three assists on the year.  She has 38 shots and 19 on goal which are good for second on the team.  Jenny Baker and Nicole Nedervelt each have three goals.

Defensively, the Saints are led by Ashley Engel who has played in 15 games and started 14.  She has an 8-7 record with five shutouts and a 1.18 goals against average and 71 saves.  She is second in the league in saves and save percentage and third in shutouts.

As a team, the Saints have scored 23 goals with 18 assists for 64 points.  They are shooting .119 on the year with 194 shots and .539 in shots on goal with 115.  The opponents have scored 19 goals and 19 assists for 57 points.

INSIDE THE SERIES...
The Yellowjackets lead the all-time series 4-1, including a 3-2 win in Lacey earlier in the year.  In that game, the Yellowjackets scored three goals to open the game, only to see the Saints march back for two goals late in the game.  Jaucelyn Richter scored two goals and Kari Foreman added the game winner.  Last season, in one of the craziest games of the season, the Yellowjackets scored  two goals in less than seven minutes to erase a 2-0 deficit and then scored the game winner by Kari Foreman in overtime.  The crazy part was that Foreman scored the equalizer with 19 seconds left in regulation and then she scored the game winner with 23 seconds left in the first overtime.  The ‘Jackets also needed overtime in Lacey with a 2-1 win last season.

SCOUTING WESTERN OREGON
The Wolves enter the week with a 4-10-3 record overall and a 2-7 mark in league play.  WOU also is looking to snap a two game skid.  The Wolves have dropped four of six and seven of 10.  Leading the way for the Wolves this season is Rachelle Kliewer who leads the team with seven goals, three assists and 17 points.  She also leads the team with 45 shots (.156) and has one game winner.  Jessica Hicks, Kelsey Fuik and Chelsy Okuma each have two goals on the year.

Between the posts, the Wolves are led by Brittney Rigtrup who has played in 15 games and started nine.  She leads the team with 65 saves in 1020:20 minutes.  Rigtrup has a 2-5-2 record with one shutout and a 1.85 goals against average.   Kelsie Blachly has played in 11 games and started seven for 605 minutes.  She has 29 saves and a 2.23 goals against average to go along with a 2-4 record.

As a team, the Wolves have scored 21 goals on 17 assists for 59 points.  They have 172 shots on the year for a .122 average and are 2-3 in penalty kicks.  Their opponents have scored 36 goals with 27 assists for 99 points.

INSIDE THE SERIES...
The Yellowjackets evened the all-time series at 3-3 with a 2-1 double overtime win in Monmouth earlier this year.  Kari Foreman tallied the game winner in the 102 minute to break a 1-1 tie.  WOU’s Austin Marina scored the first goal 54:25 into the contest, but Jennifer Larsen added the equalizer less than two minutes later.  The teams split the season series last year.

PARENTS WEEKEND SET FOR NOV. 5-7
The 2009 Parents Weekend is scheduled for Nov. 5-7 as the Yellowjackets close out the regular season versus Seattle Pacific and Western Washington.  Nov. 7 versus Western Washington also is Senior Days as MSUB has one senior, Chelsea Libby, who will be playing her final regular season game in a Yellowjacket uniform.  The festivities kick off Nov. 5 with the 2 p.m. start versus nationally ranked Seattle Pacific.  Nov. 6 features an Alumni and Parents dinner, followed by Senior Day on Saturday.  There will be a BBQ at Yellowjacket Field beginning at 11:30 a.m.

DOMINATING THE CORNERS
This season the Yellowjackets have dominated the corner kicks to the tune of 78-32.  MSUB has had more than double the set pieces than its opponents.  The Yellowjackets have had 39 corners in the first half and 38 in the second to just 14 in each half by their opponents.

SEEING THE MINUTES
Junior Jordan Fenwick has played 1498:29 minutes this season which is the fourth most minutes in a season in school history. She tops her 2008 performance of 1484:02. Fenwick has played every minute of every game this season.

FOREMAN NAMED YELLOWJACKET OF THE WEEK
Junior Kari Foreman was this week’s Yellowjacket of the week for the week of Oct. 19. The Lakewood, Colo., native had two of the Yellowjackets four goals in a 4-0 victory over rival, Rocky Mountain College. Foreman led the way with two goals and tallied her fourth game-winner of the year. She had four shots and three on goal. For the season, Foreman has tallied eight goals and 17 points for MSUB.

FOUR FOR FOREMAN
Kari Foreman tallied two goals and added her fourth game winner of the year at Rocky Mountain College on Oct. 14 in a 4-0 win.  With her fourth game winner, she now is tied with Ally Stroup (2005 & 2006) and Margot Merrill-Johnson (2001) for most game winners in a season in school history.

LIBBY & RICHTER THIRD IN ASSISTS
Senior Chelsea Libby and freshman Jaucelyn Richter are tied for third in the league in assists with six each.  Kelly Irving and Kaycie Hutchins lead the way with seven each.

FRESHMEN DOING THE WORK
This season a multitude of freshmen have made a huge impact for the Yellowjackets.  Jaucelyn Richter leads the team with nine goals, six assists and 24 points.  Jennifer Larsen is right behind her with eight goals and 17 points.  As a team, the seven freshmen who have played this season have accounted for 19 of the 30 goals, 11 of the 21 assists for 49 points.

ROCK SOLID BOEHM
Samantha Boehm is the only Yellowjacket to play all 1498 minutes this season.  She is one of seven Yellowjackets to play and start all 16 games.  Last season, Sara Gress played every minute of the year.
