Foreman Earns GNAC Co-Player of the Week Honors

SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana State Billings women’s soccer junior midfielder, Kari Foreman, was named Co-Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.  Foreman shares the honor with Taylor Lundquist of Seattle Pacific.

“Kari had not only a tremendous week for us in the center of the park, but a tremendous first half of the season,” MSUB head coach Don Trenham said.  “She is doing everything I expect from a captain center midfielder – organizing the midfielders around her, putting in the work defensively and scoring game winning goals.  She has high expectations of herself, and because of those high expectations I expect she will be even better the second half of the season.”

Foreman scored both game-winning goals for the Yellowjackets in a pair of key conference road wins.  Her goal in the 102nd minute at Western Oregon gave the Yellowjackets a 2-1 double overtime victory over the Wolves.  It was the first win in school history at WOU.  She followed that performance with a goal and assist in a thrilling 3-2 victory at Saint Martin’s.  Foreman played all 192 minutes and all five of her shots were on goal.

In addition, Foreman leads the conference in game-winning goals with three and is tied for third in the conference in assists with three.  This is Foreman’s first conference weekly honor of the season and second for the Yellowjackets in three weeks.  Defender Samantha Boehm was named the week’s best Sept. 14.

For the season, Foreman is third on the team in goals with three.  She has 15 shots and nine on goal, too.  She is one of eight Yellowjackets to play and start all 10 games.

Foreman was named GNAC Player of the Week twice last season.

The Yellowjackets host conference rival Central Washington Saturday at 1:00 p.m., at Yellowjacket Field in the first game of the Futbol Frenzy doubleheader. The Yellowjacket men host Northwest Nazarene at 3:30 p.m.  There will be a free BBQ for MSUB students with a valid U-Card at 12:30 p.m.

This season ALL MSUB home women’s and men’s soccer games will be FREE on the internet with live video and audio as the voice of the Yellowjackets, Ken Adelblue, will have the call.
