Boehm Named GNAC Player of the Week
SPOKANE, WA – Montana State Billings women’s soccer junior defender, Samantha Boehm, has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
“It is great to have Sam recognized by the conference for what was an outstanding defensive effort from every player on the team this past weekend,” head coach Don Trentham said.
Boehm, a native of Wilsonville, Ore., anchored a back line which allowed just four shots on goal in a pair of contests this past week at the University of Mary Invitational. Boehm helped lead the Yellowjackets to a 1-0-1 record over the weekend with a 4-0 win against Minnesota-Crookston and a 1-1 tie with Mary. MSUB outshot its opponents 30-17 and 18-4 in shots on goal.
Boehm and the Yellowjacket defense allowed just one goal on the weekend and had a streak of 194:15 minutes of not allowing a goal in 200 minutes of playing time.
Boehm becomes the first MSUB women’s soccer player to earn conference Player of the Week honors since Kari Foreman earned the honor, Oct. 6, 2008. It is Boehm’s first Player of the Week honor.
The Yellowjackets continue their six-game road swing Thursday at Central Washington at 4 p.m. Pacific time. MSUB returns to Yellowjacket Field Oct. 3, versus Central Washington at 1 p.m.
This season ALL MSUB home men’s and women’s soccer games will be FREE on the internet with live video and audio as the voice of the Yellowjackets, Ken Adelblue, will have the call.
