Women’s Soccer Adds Two More
BILLINGS, Mont. – Two junior college transfers have signed with the Montana State University Billings women’s soccer head, head coach Don Trentham announced Tuesday. Tyshae Davis and Amanda Brusic inked to play for the Yellowjackets in 2010-11.
“I’m excited to add two transfers to our squad,” Trentham said. “They bring additional depth and experience to an already deep and experienced team.”
Davis, a native of Idaho Falls, Idaho, competed the past two seasons at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. There, she played both women’s soccer and competed in track. Davis earned NWAACC All-Academic honors, including the NWAACC Academic Leadership Award. She also was an NWAACC All-Region selection and a team captain in 2009. Academically, she made the Dean’s List in 2008 and 2009.
“Tyshae is a good athlete who also is very versatile as a player,” Trentham said. “I see her being able to play as a center mid, outside back or outside forward. It is nice to have a player who gives a coach several options.”
Davis graduated from Bonneville High School where she lettered all four years in soccer, three in track and one in cross country. As a senior, she was a first team all-conference selection as she led the team with 14 assists and was second in goals with six. She was a first team all-conference selection as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore. In addition, she helped lead her relay team to a third and fifth place finish at state, respectively, her freshman year in the 4X400 and 4X100 meters.
She is planning on majoring in health and human performance at MSUB.
Brusic played her last two years at Walla Walla Community College where she was a 2008 NWAACC All-Conference selection and helped lead her team to its first NWAACC title in 2009. She also was named all-region.
“Amanda comes to us from a very good Walla Wall Community College program,” Trentham said. “With her experience, technical ability and vision on the ball, I believe she has the opportunity to compete immediately for time in the center of the park.”
She prepped at West Valley High School in Yakima, Wash., where she helped lead her team to state all four years, including a runner-up finish in 2004 and a fourth place finish in 2007.
While in high school, Brusic earned first team all-conference honors in 2004 and 2005 as a forward, and all-state honors both years. She earned the Coaches Award in 2006 and 2007, as well as second team all-league honors both seasons.
She plans on majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.
Brusic and Davis bring the 2010 Yellowjacket recruiting class to eight. They join Heidi Greenback (Wash.), Danica Johnson (Mont.), Jaclyn Hill (Idaho), Whitney Siler (Wash.), Agen Heffernan (Wash.) and Sabrina Grandke-Bawab (Wash.).
The Yellowjackets return 10 starters and 16 letterwinners from 2009. MSUB is scheduled to open the 2010 season with an exhibition at home against University of Great Falls, Thurs., Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. The first regular season home game is slated for Thurs., Sept. 2, versus 2009 NCAA Tournament participant Dixie State at 5 p.m. The full 2010 schedule will be released in the next couple of weeks.
