Yellowjacket Women’s Soccer Hosts Annual Spring Tournament
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings women’s soccer team is scheduled to host its annual MSUB Spring Classic this Saturday and Sunday at Yellowjacket Field, located at the College of Technology Campus on the corner of Shiloh and Central in Billings. The five Montana schools that sponsor women’s soccer, along with the University of Mary are included in the tournament.
“We always look forward to hosting this event,” head coach Don Trentham said. “It gives our players an opportunity to end their spring season with three competitive games.”
The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday as Rocky Mountain College will play the University of Montana. MSUB plays Mary at 10 a.m., followed by Rocky versus Carroll College at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon session starts with the University of Great Falls versus Mary at 1 p.m., followed by Carroll versus Montana at 2:30 p.m. and MSUB versus Great Falls at 4 p.m. After the MSUB game, the Magic City U-14 team will take on the Magic City U-15 team at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, the Yellowjackets will host Montana at 10 a.m. in the final game of the classic.
General admission tickets are $5, while senior citizen tickets are $3. MSUB faculty/staff and grade 7-12 students are $3 and MSUB students are free with valid student ID, along with children in grades 6 and down. In addition, Montana Youth Soccer Association participants who are wearing their jerseys will be admitted free.
“In addition, the games give the youth players here in Billings an opportunity to watch a lot of college soccer over three days,” Trentham added.
