BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings women’s basketball team is doing its part in the fight against breast cancer. For the first six home games this season (Nov. 15,18 and 21 and Dec. 1, 12 and 30) the Yellowjackets are taking donations for every three-pointer made or a general donations to help raise money for a local family.
Shoot for the Cure involves both the women’s basketball program at MSUB as well as raising money for the Costello family. Susan Costello has been courageously fighting breast cancer for five years, while the rising medical expenses have become a burden for their family.
This project not only promotes the women’s basketball program and its community involvement, but also the awareness of breast cancer. Local businesses have the opportunity to pledge/donate money to the Shoot for the Cure fund for every three-pointer made by the women’s basketball team during regular season home games.
Donations would be held in a trust fund and the women’s basketball program would be granted 25 percent of the proceeds while the Costello family would get 75 percent to put towards their medical bills.
To help the women’s basketball team accomplish its goal, just pick up one of the pink flyers located in the lobby during every home game and fill out the information at the bottom, then turn in where directed. You also may download the flyer on the website and turn in to the address provided.
The Shoot for the Cure fund may also be used in future seasons to help raise money for other local families or organizations.
