Final Exhibition for Women’s Basketball Set
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings women’s basketball team is gearing up for its final exhibition game of the season on Tuesday night, visiting cross-town rival, Rocky Mountain College, at 7 p.m. The regular season gets underway at home, Sunday, Nov. 15, against the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at 2 p.m.
The Yellowjackets enter Tuesdays contest coming off of an impressive victory over Montana Western last Friday night at home, 88-58. In that game, Callie Kautzmann paced the Yellowjackets with 17 points and five boards.
Kautzmann was joined by four other Yellowjackets that scored in double-figures against the Bulldogs. Kalli Stanhope had 16 points and Sarah McNamee scored 13, while Shantell Marquis and freshman Ashley Reed both had 10 points apiece. Reed also collected eight rebounds to lead the Yellowjackets as Marquis and Mandy Jacobs both had five assists.
MSUB shot 50.8 percent (31-61) from the field and were 11-of-29 (37.9) from behind the arc. Both teams scored 32 points in the paint, but the Yellowjackets scored 39 points off of 25 Bulldog turnovers. The MSUB bench outscored UMW 32-11 as the Yellowjackets stretched their largest lead to 36 during the game.
