Yellowjackets Release 2009-10 Women’s Basketball Schedule

BILLINGS, Mont. – The 2009-10 edition of Montana State Billings women’s basketball will have plenty of experience this fall as it returns eight players from last year’s team.  Thursday, head coach Kevin Woodin announced the 2009-10 schedule which features 14 home games and four NCAA Division II tournament participants from a year ago.

“I am looking forward to our season,” said Woodin. “The schedule is very competitive and our exhibition and non-conference games will definitely prepare us for GNAC play.  We have 24 regional Division II games and I know our conference will be very tough once again.”

For the second consecutive year, MSUB will open its season at home in Alterowitz Gymnasium. The season gets underway on Nov. 15, against Colorado-Colorado Springs at 2 p.m. Five of the first seven contests will be held at home, including games against University of Mary (Nov. 18), Chadron State (Nov. 21), Montana Tech (Dec. 1) and Dickinson State (Dec. 12).

The Yellowjackets will then hit the road as they travel to University of Mary and Metro State before returning home for a match-up with Rocky Mountain College, Dec. 30. MSUB will wrap-up its non-conference action on the road, Jan. 3, when it faces Chadron State.

The GNAC schedule begins with a home game against Saint Martin’s, Jan. 7. The Yellowjackets then hit the road for four games, their longest road trip of the season, against Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Anchorage Jan. 14 and 16, Seattle Pacific on Jan. 21, and Northwest Nazarene on Jan. 23. Anchorage, Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene are coming off of tournament appearances; Anchorage was a semi-finalist a year ago.

After the road trip, MSUB returns home for seven of its next nine, including return trips by Seattle Pacific, Feb. 17, and Alaska Anchorage, Feb. 24. The regular season concludes with a visit to Western Washington, a tournament participant a year ago, March 4 and Central Washington, March 6.
