Porter Earns GNAC Player of the Week Honor
SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana State Billings sophomore middle blocker, Melissa Porter, was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. It is her first weekly conference honor of the season and second for a Yellowjacket player.
The Redmond, Utah native helped the Yellowjackets to wins over Alaska Anchorage and previously unbeaten Seattle Pacific in the past week.
In three matches, she had 29 kills and a team-best 16 blocks, making several momentum changing plays especially in Monday’s win against the Seawolves. Her third-set block ignited a comeback from a 17-11 deficit and she then she later had a kill to break a 24-24 tie in a 26-24 set victory. She finished with 10 kills and four blocks against UAA, then had 13 kills and seven blocks against NNU and then contributed six kills and five blocks against SPU.
The Yellowjackets host Rocky Mountain College Tuesday, Oct. 13, starting at 7 p.m. That match is part of three game home stand that includes matches against Central Washington on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Western Washington on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
This season ALL MSUB home volleyball matches will be FREE on the internet with live video and audio as the voice of the Yellowjackets, Ken Adelblue, will have the call.
