Pearce Named GNAC Track Athlete of the Week
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings track and field standout, Brandon Pearce, was recognized as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field athlete of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Only a freshman, Pearce recorded a GNAC automatic qualifying mark for the 60 meter sprint and a provisional mark in the 200 meter sprint this past weekend at the Chadron State Shootout in Chadron, NE. The Billings, MT. native also broke a school record with his time in the 55 meters.
Pearce’s time of 6.65 in the 55 (converted to 7.14) betters the 60 meters automatic standard of 7.16. His 200 time of 23.23, is .09 seconds better than the provisional standard. Pearce’s marks were among 10 provisional marks for MSUB in the meet.
Pearce helped the men’s track and field team to a fourth place finish at the meet. The team returns to action Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 11-12, at the Multi Events hosted by Montana State University in Bozeman, MT.
