Yellowjacket Women’s Track Honored by USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS – The Montana State Billings women’s track and field team was honored as one of 64 teams to make the 2009 Division II USTFCCCA (United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic Team. The Yellowjackets had a team grade point average of 3.19.
“Our women's team has always excelled academically and I'm really proud of their accomplishments in the classroom,” MSUB head coach Dave Coppock said. “It's an honor for them to be named by our national coaches association to this academic team. We have several women on the team who maintain nearly a 4.0 grade point average which is difficult with a year-round sport.”
The Yellowjackets were one of seven Great Northwest Athletic Conference schools named to the team. Northern Kentucky University led the way with a 3.678 GPA, while Seattle Pacific had a 3.437 to lead the way for the GNAC schools. Northwest Nazarene just missed the top 10 with a 3.420 GPA, followed by MSUB (3.190), Alaska Anchorage (3.160), Central Washington (3.157), St. Martin’s (3.100) and Western Oregon (3.086).
To be eligible, schools must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.00 or better.
