Track and Field Competes at Al Manuel Invite

MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana State Billings track and field team competed at the Al Manuel Invitational Saturday, hosted by the University of Montana at Dornblaser Field. The Yellowjackets received many top performances throughout the meet.

On the women’s side, Justine Simons turned in a seventh place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.00 seconds as she ran a 12.76 in the prelims. Erika Halle turned in a top five performance in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.40, good enough for fourth.

In the women’s 1500 meter run, Whitney Mickelsen placed seventh with a time of 4:57.03. Mary Owen had a pair of top ten results, finishing third in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a 12:28.86 and finishing ninth in the 5000 meter run with a 19:47.70.

In the field events, Hilary Gourneau finished sixth in the shot put with a best toss of 39’-04.50”. In the discus, Alexi Halvorson placed fourth with a toss of 138’-09”.

On the men’s side, Adam Prevost had the top result, finishing fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.73. Nathan Diede came across the line in sixth in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.10.

Sixth place finishes also went to Dylan Solberg in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:00.10, Tyson Vanderby in the 800 meter run with a finishing time of 1:59.10 and Daniel Lombardi in the 5000 meter run with a 16:07.70.

Bryce Jensen rounded out the scoring for the Yellowjacket men, finishing seventh in the men’s shot put with a toss of 40’-06”.

The Yellowjackets return to the track in a split meet Saturday, April 10, at the Bengal Heptathlon/Decathlon hosted by Idaho State University and the MSU Invitational hosted by Montana State University in Bozeman, MT.
