MSUB Gets Qualifying Marks at MSU Open

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State Billings had numerous track and field athletes qualify for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference meet with marks set at the Montana State University Open Friday evening at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

Erika Halle continued to impress this indoor season, qualifying in the 55 meter hurdles with a mark of 11.07 and in the 400 meter run with a 1:01.31. Kacie Vanderloos joined Brook Berg and Hilary Gourneau in qualifying for the shot put, with a best throw of 11.10 meters (36’ 05”). Also getting a qualifying mark was Mary Owen in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11.21.72.

In other results, Brandon Pearce finished eighth in the 55 meter dash, turning in a time of 6.61, while Whitney Mickelson had a good showing in the mile, finishing sixth in a time of 5:27.75.

Pearce also finished in the top ten in the 200 meter dash, finishing sixth with a 22.91. Berg, Gourneau and Vanderloos finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the shot put, respectively.

Competing in the meet with the Yellowjackets were the University of Montana, Montana State, University of Mary, Dickinson State and the University of Great Falls.

The Yellowjackets track and field team will return to the track Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12-13, at the Mountain State Games in Pocatello, ID.
