Marimuthu Earns RMAC Player of the Weeks
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Montana State Billings freshman tennis player, Navin Marimuthu, was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday, the conference office announced. Marimuthu led the Yellowjackets to a 3-1 finish over the weekend in Kearney, NE as the Jackets wrapped-up regular season RMAC play.
The Chennai, India native finished perfect in singles and doubles play, going 4-0 in both. He dominated Colorado Christian’s Matt Cooper, 6-1 and 6-0 in his first match, and then dropped CSU-Pueblo’s Ricardo Oayaca, 6-1 and 6-2 on the first day of the trip. On day two, Marimuthu again went to work, defeating his UNK opponent in straight sets and handily beat Tyler Benson of Hastings College, 6-1 and 6-1
As the number one singles player, Marimuthu leads the number five central regionally ranked Yellowjackets into the RMAC Championships next weekend in Albuquerque, NM. The Yellowjackets enter the tournament as the four seed and will take on number five Metro State in the opening round of the tournament. Marimuthu enters the tournament with an 11-11 record overall.
