Ana Juarez Captures RMAC Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Montana State Billings sophomore Ana Juarez was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the week, the conference office announced late Wednesday. Juarez was honored for the first time this season and earned the Yellowjackets second award this season (Lena Macomson – March 10).
The Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico native went 2-1 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles play, leading MSUB to a 2-1 record with wins over Southern Oregon (5-4) and College of Idaho (8-1) in Lewiston, Idaho last weekend. The Yellowjackets fell 9-0 to Lewis-Clark State.
Juarez had a 7-6, 7-5 victory in her match against Southern Oregon then shutout Kate Leadbetter of College of Idaho 6-0, 6-0. She paired with Macomson to also go 2-1 in doubles play with wins in the Southern Oregon and College of Idaho matches.
The Yellowjackets currently sit at 5-9 on the season and will begin conference play this week. MSUB plays a pair of non-conference matches today against New Mexico Military Institute at 9 a.m. and then take on Colorado College at 3 p.m. RMAC play begins April 2, when the Jackets take on Metro State at 2:30 p.m. and again on April 3, against Mesa State at 9:30 a.m. and Western New Mexico at 2:30 p.m. in Denver.
