Softball Signs Local Standout
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings softball head coach, Anthony Stone, has announced that Olivia Heidinger has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Yellowjackets during the 2010-2011 season.
"Olivia choosing MSUB is a big local addition for us,” said Stone. “She's a tough, hard working student-athlete who will add speed and solid fundamentals to our lineup. We're looking forward to Olivia joining the Yellowjackets in 2010."
Heidinger, a 5’2” centerfielder from Laurel, MT, has an impressive resume coming into her senior year at Laurel High School. She is already a three year letter winner in softball, basketball and golf. She earned all-state honors and was named first-team all-conference during her junior season.
Through her three seasons with the Locomotives, Heidinger is batting .451 with an on-base percentage of .581. She has 32 hits including four home runs with 35 runs scored and 20 RBI. She helped her team to the state tournament the past three seasons and were divisional champions in 2007.
During her ASA career, Heidinger was part of the Billings Bulldogs who won the U-14 Montana state championship in 2007, and was an All-America selection at the Triple Crown World Series in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 she was an All-America selection at the Triple Crown Colorado Sparkler.
Heidinger is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, pep club and is a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She has earned academic all-state honors nine times and has been on the LHS honor roll every year.
