Jackets Place Three on Academic All-Conference Team

SPOKANE, Wash. – Three players from the Montana State Billings softball team were honored with a spot on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Stevie Howard, Kelly Parsons and Kasie Conder joined 18 others in the honor as Parsons earned her second consecutive award.

Heading up the academic team is Tyler Sutherland of Western Oregon.  Her 3.94 GPA in her graduate studies is the highest of the 19 all-stars.  Among undergraduate students, Courtnee Crane of Northwest Nazarene has the highest GPA with a 3.90 average.

Parsons joined Crane, Haley Hevern of Northwest Nazarene and Jessica Wood as two-time recipients. Katriina Reime of Central Washington was selected for the third time.

Parsons, a native of Seattle, Wash., has earned a 3.25 GPA in Public Relations through her junior year at MSUB. Howard, who graduated last week from her Master’s program, had a 3.50 GPA in Counseling, while Conder, a native of Hamilton, Mont., had a 3.33 GPA in Elementary Education.

Western Oregon led the selections, placing six players on the academic all-conference team.  Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington each placed four players on the team.

All letter winners who are in at least their second year of competition and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 are eligible to be selected to the team.
